Grey water recycling at St Hilda's College
University of Melbourne
Nubian Water Systems has recently completed the commissioning of a GT600 Grey water Treatment System within St Hilda's College at the University of Melbourne.
The GT600 is collecting approximately 1000 litres of water per day from the laundry and showers. Following treatment to a Class A standard, water is being used for subsurface irrigation, keeping the garden green - all year round.

Nubian Receives Green Light Accreditation for Greywater Treatment
Technology for South Australia
Nubian GT600 Provides a Welcome Water Boost for Home
Owners with Gardens and Scarce Water Supplies
40% Saving on Precious Drinking Water with Nubians Greywater
Annual Saving of 148,000 litres Potable Water in a
family of four
Australian-owned Nubian Water Systems has now gained
accreditation in South Australia for the introduction of their
revolutionary Nubian Domestic Greywater Treatment System (GT600).
Nubian takes the greywater generated by baths, showers, laundry and
hand basins and treats it to a high quality, suitable for safe
garden irrigation using sprays or drippers. The Nubian is a
practical and affordable urban solution for garden owners and
sustainable landscapers and architects.
One of the great benefits of the Nubian GT600 is its capacity to
deliver a reliable water supply for gardens in times of drought and
tight water restrictions. Since 1 October 2007 South Australian
householders have only been able to use drippers and hand-held
hoses fitted with a trigger nozzle on their gardens and lawns for a
maximum of three hours a week. This is stressing many plants and
trees that require more water. Nubian now provides significant extra
water for mature and sensitive plants. Property owners can be
assured of a water supply for maintaining their gardens which
typically contribute 8% or more to the value of their property.
Drip Irrigation and Greywater Recycling Offers
Solution to Councils in Fear of Backyard Toxic Flooding
As the formidable impact of climate change and scarce supplies
of water threaten communities worldwide, conserving water has
become an increasingly urgent issue. Australia is particularly
affected where fresh water is one of the country s scarcest
resources and where domestic gardening consumes an inordinate
supply of the water.
Today with after effects of the severe droughts and water
restrictions of last year, most of urban Australia still remains
under strict water restrictions. Victoria s Councils however
are often stalling efforts to assist in an area where hope for
water conservation is gaining momentum, the practice of greywater
Many are fearful of complaints that this new source of domestic
water for gardens will cause flooding of effluent to adjoining
properties this is actually only a risk when consumers use
untreated greywater diversion systems instead of quality recycling
Many councils have adopted a highly regulatory approach during
this critical time of short water supply with an onerous legal
framework. Instead, they could rely on the rigorous accreditation
process demanded by the EPA and Health dept that ensures the high
quality of water won t be a problem from the recycling
